Interventional Orthobiologic Medicine

Orthobiologics”, refers to the use of biological substances to help musculoskeletal injuries heal quicker. They are used to improve the healing of fractured bones and injured muscles, tendons and ligaments and are derived from substances that are naturally found in body.

Even thou they are all related, I will describe each separately under a different tab so as to give you a better idea of what each entails. They all fall under the heading of Orthobiologic Medicine because their purpose is to regenerate and promote healing of damaged or injured tissues. Among the orthobiologic substances uses in our office we have  Cell Therapy, and Plasma . I will describe each one separately.

Here is a common question. Are Plasma injections and Cell therapy safe?

Research and clinical data show that Plasma injections and cells therapies are  extremely safe, with minimal risk for any adverse reaction or complication but only If and only if  the injectable products are obtained from your own blood and bone marrow. There is then no concern for rejection or disease transmission. There is a small risk of infection from any injection into the body, but this is rare. Recent research has suggested that PRP may have an anti-bacterial property, which protects against possible infection.
